Iowerth ap Mareddud ap Bleddyn, Prince of Powys

 

 

Son of Mareddud ap Bleddyn ap Cynfyn and Eua verch Beti ap Endowen Bendow, father of Griffith Vychan and husband of Maud de Manley

Iorwerth (also known as Iowerth Gogh Maredudd), bornc.1106, was of Carhowell, Kinnerley, Shropshire and was Lord of Monchant-is-Rhayadr.  He married Maud de Manly, also known as Matilda, the daughter of Roger de Manley (Marley) of Chester.

Iowerth and Maud had two sons recorded:

Griffith Vychan born c.1150 

Howellus ap Iowerth of Carhowell

 

Iowereth died c.1177

 

The above data comes mainly from the 1623 Visitation to Shropshire, recorded by John Kynaston, eldest son of Edward Kynaston and Katherine Lloyd
