Thomas Gaskill

 

 

Father of John Gaskell

 

Thomas was born c.1650 in Cheshire

 

He wrote his will in 1721 and an inventory of goods was taken on 22nd September 1725

 

By his will Thomas refers to "messuage lands and tenements with their and every of their appurtenances lying and being in Handley, which I hold by lease from and under Peter Legh of Lyme in the Parish of Prestbury Armig. for and during the natural lives of me the said Thomas Gaskill, Thomas Gaskill my elder son and John Gaskill my second son now in Manchester in the County of Lancaster, Taylor and for and during the natural life of the survivor of us within the space and time of three whole years next together ensuing and to be attonnted? immediately from and after my death if my term in the said original lease for the same shall so long continue etc………

And I give unto my said son John Gaskill the sum of ten pounds & I give my daughter Mary Bennett now wife of William Bennett of Hanley aforesaid Yeoman, ten pounds and to my daughter Ann ten pounds…………………….

 

And I give all my household goods to my son John Gaskill and daughters Mary and Anne share and share alike

 

And I give all my wearing apparel to grandson John Bennett (eldest son of William Bennett)”

 

Thomas’s eldest son, Thomas Gaskill married Ann Nickson of Wealy, Taxal, Cheshire on 22nd September 1707.  Thomas was then of Lime Hanley, Prestbury, Cheshire and his younger brother, John, Taylor of Manchester, was a bondsman

 

Mary Gaskill married William Bennett on 2nd October 1709 in Prestbury, Cheshire
