Father of Henry Symes and husband of Sarah
Henry was born in Rynd Yeovil, Somerset in about 1798. On the marriage certificate of his son, Henry, Henry’s occupation is given as a farmer.
According to the 1841 Census, Henry and his wife, Sarah, were living in Staple Fitzpaine, Somerset, with their children:

John Symes born c.1828. John appears in the 1851 Census, aged 23 and married to Ann. Aged 30. Ann was born in Staple Fitzpaine. They then had one child:
Mary Ann Symes born in Curland and aged 2
John’s brother, William Symes, aged 29, was also present, unmarried and a servant to his brother
According to the 1861 Census, John aged 33 had remarried, Sarah presumably having died between 1851 and 1861. His new wife, Hannah was aged 42 and born in Staple Fitzpaine. John was a Bread Maker. At home there home in St Mary Magdalene, Taunton, then were:
Mary Ann Symes aged 12, a Scholar and born in Curland
John Robert Symes aged 6, a Scholar and born in Curland
Eliza Jane Symes aged 2 and born in Curland
Plus one servant
William Symes, John brother was still present aged 42 and a Baker
According to the 1871 Census, John had died and Hannah was still living in St Mary Magdalene, Taunton. Hannah was a Baker and Grocer. At home were:
Mary Ann Symes aged 23. According to the 1881 Census Mary, aged 33, had married Richard Ware, aged 54 born in Bishops Hull . He was a Gaol Warder. Mary's Uncle, William Symes aged 58 and a Baker, was also present as was Eliza Jane Symes, Mary's sister, aged 22, who was listed as an imbecile

According to the 1851 Census Henry, aged 63 and a farm labourer and Sarah aged 62, were living at Bow Hall, Staple Fitzpaine. There were no children at home then.
According to the 1861 Census Henry, aged 73 and born in Rynd Yeovil, Somerset and Sarah, his wife, aged 71, were living in Staple Fitzpaine. Henry was an Agricultural Labourer. The following children were at home, all born in Staple Fitzpaine:
Daniel Symes He married Sarah Coles in early 1841 and according to the 1851 Census they were living in the Parish of St Mary Magdalene, Taunton, Somerset . David was aged 34, a Journeyman Baker and Sarah aged 33. The following children were present:
Sarah Ann Symes aged 8 and born in West Monkton, Somerset
Walter Symes aged 6 and born in Bishops Hull, Somerset
Eliza Symes aged 4 and born in Bishops Hull, Somerset
Mary Ann Symes aged 2 and born in Taunton
William Symes. According to the 1891 Census, William Symes aged 69 was still a Baker and a lodger living at 15 Victoria Place, High Street, St Mary Magdalene, Taunton in the home of Thomas and Elizabeth Giles and their young son
