Griffinus (also known as Gruffud) Kynaston was of Stokkes, Shropshire was born c.1400. He started the dynasty of Kynaston of Walford.  He married Margaretta Hoord, daughter of Johannes Hoord of Walford, Baschurch, Shropshire who died in Ireland on 20th July 1398.

Johannes Hoord was the son of Roger Hoord of Walford and Stanwardyn; he, in turn, was the son of John Hoord of Walford and Eyton and this John was the son of Richard Hoord, borne in Walford and married Eva c.1306.  Hoord is also spelt Hord. In 1307 Philip de Stanwardyn sold to Richard and Eva one measure, two carvcates of land and 18s. rent in Stanwadyn for £100.

Griffinus was a Steward of Ellesmere.

Griffinus and Margaretta had the following children:

Phillipus Kynaston was of Walford.  He married Alicia Corbett (also Dorothy Alice), daughter of Robertus Corbett of Morton and Margaret Mallory.  They had two sons, but the Walford line passed to the Clyve (Cliffe) family through marriage by 1623

Thomas Kynaston of Shotton founded the Kynaston of Shotton line, which died out in two generations

Rogerus Kynaston born c.1433

Williamus Kynaston  founded the Kynaston of Ryton line, which had heirs in 1623

Johannes Kynaston founded the Kynaston of Pontesbury line.  He married Jana Manwering, daughter of Johannes Manwering of Peover.  This family had heirs in 1623 and produced, through a direct desendant, Georgius Kynaston, the Kynaston of Oteley line

The above data comes mainly from the 1623 Visitation to Shropshire, recorded by John Kynaston, eldest son of Edward Kynaston and Katherine Lloyd
