Laura Temple Hugo: 1840 - ? Laura was baptised at Holy Cross Church, Crediton, Devon on 12th June 1840. According to the 1881 Census she was living next door to her mother and sister Emily Jane, at 16 Montpellier Villas, Cheltenham as a lodger with Mr & Mrs Joynes According to the 1861 Census, Laura was Governess to the children of Mr and Mrs William Deans of Sandford, Devon According to the 1891 Census Laura, a schoolmistress was living with her mother at 5 Ashley Terrace, Ilfracombe, and with her sisters Margaret and Emily According to the 1901 Census, Laura, aged 60 and her sisters, Margaret, aged 55 and Emily, aged 51, were living at 20 Regent Street, Cowley, Oxford. They were all of independent means Isabella Catherine Blake Hugo: 1842 - 4 October 1930 Isabella was baptised in Crediton on 3rd February 1842. According to the 1881 Census she was at a Ladies College, 27 Circus, Walcott, Somerset, with many others from all over Europe. She was a sponsor at the baptism of Gerald Bruce Gaskell in 1882. Also mentioned in her mother’s will. She died on 4th October 1930 in her 89th year at 219 Iffley Road, Oxford According to the 1901 Census, Isabella, aged 56, was a visitor at the home of Thomas and Alice Armstrong in High Street, Abbotts Langley, Hertfordshire. Isabella was of independent means William Henry Temple Hugo: 1843 - 1908 William was baptised in Crediton on 16th August 1843. He was mentioned in his mother’s will, as were his two children – Margaret Horatia and Wilfred. According to the 1851 Census, William, aged 7 and his sister Margaret were Scholars at the home of Frederick Temple, his mother Dorcas and sister Jennetta Temple at Kneller Hall Twickenham According to the 1871 Census, William was a solicitor, lodging at 9 Serle Street, St Clement’s Dane, London with John and Amanda Ellen Perkins, their daughter Jane Chase Perkins aged 18 and born in South Hackney, Middlesex; 3 other daughters, one son plus 2 other visitors and a servant. John was a Printer’s Warehouseman, aged 43, born in Northamptonshire. William married Jane Chase Perkins in early 1873 in the Borough of Holborn, London. According to the 1881 Census William, a solicitor and Managing Clerk, was living at New Street, Ross, Herefordshire, aged 37, with his wife, Jane C Hugo, aged 26 and children Wilfred Temple Hugo, aged 3 and Margaret Horatia Hugo aged 5, both born in Ross. Margaret in mid 1875 According to the 1891 Census, “Mr Temple Hugo” Solicitor aged 47 was living at 15 The Avenue, Tottenham, London, with his wife Jane, aged 38 and children: Margaret Horatia Hugo, aged 15 and born mid 1875 Wilfred Temple Hugo, aged 12 and born in early 1879 According to the 1901 Census, William was living as a lodger in the home of Richard and Eliza Willington in Littledon, Gloucestershire. He was aged 57 and a solicitor. His son, Wilfred, aged 22, is a Printers Clerk living at Tottenham, Middlesex and Margaret, aged 25, was a schoolmistress in Kidderminster, Worcestershire, with her mother, Jane, who was born in Hackney, London
William died in Edmonton Registration District in mid 1908 Margaret and Wilfred were living together in Oxford in the 1950s and earlier 1960’s until their deaths – visited by ROHG Margaret was baptised in Crediton on 16th September 1845 According to the 1851 Census, Margaret, aged 5 and her brother William were Scholars at the home of Frederick Temple, his mother Dorcas and sister Jennetta Temple at Kneller Hall Twickenham According to the 1881 Census, Margaret was living at 41 Lawford Street, Rugby Warwickshire with Mr Alcock's family as a Governess and Maid. Charlotte was baptised in Crediton on 14th April 1847 and according to the 1881 Census was then resident and working at Guy's Hospital, St Thomas Street, London as a Hospital Sister, aged 34 Caroline Frances Hugo: 1848 - 1851 Caroline was baptised in Crediton on 26th July 1848 and buried, aged 3, on 4th January 1851 Emily Jane Hugo: 1850 - ? Emily was baptised on 8th May 1850 and according to the 1881 Census was then living with her mother at 14 Montpellier Villas, Cheltenham, aged 31 According to the 1891 Census, Emily was living with her mother and sisters, Laura and Margaret at 5 Ashley Terrace, Ilfracombe, Devon. Laura did not have a job According to the 1901 Census, Emily, aged 51 and her sisters, Laura, aged 60 and Margaret, aged 55, were living at 20 Regent Street, Cowley, Oxford.
